CAN YOU HELP - WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON SUNDAY?

Contact the Elderly is a national charity that offers friendship and a monthly outing to acutely isolated elderly people. Groups consist of 4 - 5 car owners and 6 - 10 elderly members who go to the home of a different host for a Sunday afternoon tea every month.

HOSTS generally invite a group to their homes for tea just once a year, although some find that they enjoy entertaining more often. Since many of the elderly have difficulty with stairs, a downstairs toilet is essential.

DRIVERS use their own cars and spare one Sunday afternoon a month to collect the elderly guests and join with them at the tea party.

GROUP MEMBERS are usually aged 70 or more, live alone and are often unable to get out on their own. In many cases they have no relatives nearby and rarely receive visitors.
