 Going HOME...

My home town...it really isn't much.
You might say it's such and such;
However, when I go back to this special place,
Approaching it makes my heart race.

I begin to think of my childhood,
And want to see where, in church, I once stood.
I have to slow down, because of the street...
It's bumpy, with holes here and there...it's not complete.

The church still stands, and is in good repair.
I joined this church 70 years ago, and for it I still care.
Small as it might be, it has always meant a lot to me.
Because, this is where I first met god...you see.

It doesn't take long to see a two block town.
Yes, it's in disrepair, old, and falling down,
But, I'm getting that way myself.
Being here though, makes me think a part of me never left.

Why am I here, could it be that I'm trying to find me?
Do we all come to this point in life...do we?
What am I searching for, can I find it here?
Then I realize that I know god, so I have nothing to fear.
