ABOUT A FATHER

A father doesn’t say a lot
but you know he understands,
when his child is really hurting
or needs help to fulfil plans.

He may stay in the background,
you’ll never know his care.
But when his child shouts, “Daddy”
You know he will be there

He may not always cuddle
Or talk upon the phone
But when you’ve got your father
You’re never on your own

He may not say “I love you”
As often as he plans
But a Dad’s love’s unconditional
his love is in his hands

His love is in the wee things
Repairs when things have popped
Car journeys to bring caring
When a boyfriend you have dropped

He’s there behind you mother
That’s fine, he’s happy there
But though you’re not told often
Your Dad’s love’s always there
