- Our organisation was founded in the 1990s by ex-national
serviceman Bob Parker who served in the Canal -Zone- Egypt in
the early 1950s. It was set up to cover Birmingham and the
midlands area. Later in 2000 as our membership expanded across
the UK and abroad we became the National Service Veterans
Association..
- In 2001,the Association commissioned and had dedicated a Parade
Standard this is carried on important events throughout the
year.
- In 2003 a memorial to fallen National servicemen
was commissioned and dedicated. It now stands in its own
landscaped plot at the National Aboretum in Alrewas, Lichfield,
Staffordshire.
- In 2007, a memorial plaque commissioned and sited at the
Peace Gardens, Bath Row, Birmingham.
- The last Sunday in June is officially recognised as
National Service Day and, each year, on this day a commemorative
service is held at the Aboretum.
The standard bearers of
the following associations: Market Garden Veterans, Royal Army
