Scotland was launched on Thursday 4 December 2003 at the Woodside
Halls, Glenfarg Street, Glasgow
The minutes of this historic meeting are as follows:

1. Introduction ? Joe
Harris, NPC general secretary, opened the meeting by welcoming everyone,
outlining the purpose of the meeting and explaining how he intended to
conduct the business.
2. Approval of NPC Scotland Working Constitution ? The number of EC
members was amended from 5 to 10. The working constitution presented to
the meeting was then agreed until the first AGM.
3. Elections ? The following individuals were then elected to serve
until the first AGM:
Chair ? George Henderson
Secretary ? John Wilson
Treasurer ? Hector Campbell
Committee Members ? John Copland, Lou Howson, William Johnston, Lily
Kennedy, Archie McArthur, Joe McNeill, Bill McVey, Jean Michie, Alan
Sidaway and Jack Stewart.
Delegate to NPC Executive Committee ? George Henderson.
Three delegates to NPC National Council ? Agreed the chair, secretary and
treasurer would assume these positions until the first AGM.
4. Date of Annual General Meeting ? It was agreed that this should be
sometime early in the New Year, the detail of which to be decided by the
officers.
5. Any other business ?
(a) There was a general discussion about the way forward for NPC
Scotland and how best to promote the interests of Scottish pensioners both
with the Scottish Assembly and the Westminster Government.
(b) It was agreed Lou Howson attend a STUC/SPF conference on 5 December
as a representative of NPC Scotland.
(c) It was agreed to write a letter to Brian Donohoe MP regarding
concessionary travel for pensioners.
(d) It was agreed to support the forthcoming NPC campaign on 26 January
2004 to Save the Pension Book.
