Worked both freelance as a show business correspondent, and as staff member, at Fleetway Publications (Picture Show), Hulton's (Weekly Post), Kemp's Publishing (Jazzbeat).

Compiled quizzes and competitions for the TV Times.

Joined the Evening Mail in Slough, and worked as theatre, film and music critic. Subsequently freelanced for various publications and magazines including Radio Times, UK Eagle, Singles Magazine, Celtic Newspapers, All Sport & Leisure and many others including Applause Magazine. His numerous radio presentations, recordings and
contributions include the BBC, Radio Gibraltar and the Forces Broadcasting Service.

Neil's radio programmes include Sound Mirror, Roundabout (as a researcher and contributor for 2 years). They Make Music, Theatre Call, Best of Broadway, Harlem Nocturne, The Showboat (with Sidney Torch), Melody Hour, Movie-Go Round, and more recently a Broadway music series for the Millennium.
Neil has interviewed many famous celebrities including Douglas Fairbanks Jnr., Marlene Dietrich, Dorothy Fields, Stephen Sondheim, Harold Arlen and 'Yip' E.Y. Harburg.

Neil is currently assistant to Andre Leon at Central London Radio and has been a member of the Critics' Circle since 1978. He is archivist for Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.
