OVER 150 ARTWORKS SHOWCASING THE CREATIVE TALENTS OF OLDER PEOPLE
The EAC Over 60s Art Awards has once again attracted an outstanding quality of entries from a cross section of older people throughout the country. From more than 2,000 entries an exhibition of over 150 works has been selected.
The EAC Over 60s Art Awards Exhibition boasts no limitation in subject matter. From traditional painting to contemporary photography, glassware, embroidery, and even an old fashioned puppet, the exhibition demonstrates the vast creative talents of this age group. Substantial prizes will be awarded in eight categories: Landscape/Seascape, Portrait, Still Life,
Watercolour, Oil, Drawing, 3D Work and Photography.
Prizes worth over £3,000 will be awarded including the £1,000 Angela Farnell Memorial Prize, a weekend away for two to Earnley Concourse Art Retreat, Winsor and Newton art materials worth £250 in two categories, and subscriptions to the Artist and Leisure Painter Magazines with a follow up article on the winner.
Judging this year’s entries are Sally Bulgin, editor of The Artist, Ros Lucas, EAC Director of Charity Services, and artist Tom Coates.
During the exhibition, leading artists will give free art workshops in the exhibition space. We are very grateful to Winsor and Newton for providing all materials. Two sessions will run daily from 11am – 1pm and 2pm - 4pm. Easels are limited, so if you prefer to work at an easel, we recommend you bring your own.
Wednesday 27 June: Back by popular demand, Bridget Woods will be running life-drawing with a clothed model. Bridget is a favourite tutor of the Earnley Concourse Art Retreat, and has recently published ‘Life Drawing: A Journey to Self Expression’.
Thursday 28 June: Sue Thomas will give a demonstration, and allow artists to try their hand at silk painting. A great opportunity for those looking to have a go at something new.
Friday 29 June: Freda Anderson will give a still life demonstration and workshop on drawing with pastels. Freda is an accomplished artist and experienced workshop tutor. Bring your own apron and be prepared to get messy.
The exhibition will run from 26 June – 30 June 2007 at the Mall Galleries, The Mall, London SW1, 10am – 5pm daily. ADMISSION FREE. The gallery has easy disabled access, limited parking, and a café.
