Mass Lobby for Age Equality
On April 18th Help the Aged are hosting a Mass Lobby for Age Equality in Westminster. We are hoping that hundreds of older people will come to lobby their MP to end inequality and discrimination for
older people.
Our campaign Just Equal Treatment is calling for new legislation to ensure the same protection against age discrimination that currently exists against race, sex and disability discrimination. Sometimes age
discrimination can be difficult to spot, however everyday older people face disadvantage, are treated unequally or denied opportunities because of their age.
While age discrimination is now illegal in employment, education and training, it remains legal in virtually every aspect of society. Age discrimination can lead to isolation, depression and poor health and we believe that it is an outrage that older people in the UK can be refused access to basic goods and services because of their age.
